The MSc in Conservation Biology provides advanced training in this rapidly evolving “emergency science”, especially in Ecology, Portuguese fauna and ecosystems, methods currently used for its study, and management techniques for threatened species and ecosystems, as well as for human-managed ecosystems. Students will be introduced to advanced scientific and technical knowledge, and will also participate in intensive field courses. Graduates in Conservation Biology will be able to work in research institutes, environmental evaluation agencies, as well as in administration or non-governmental organizations. Ultimately, Conservation Biology graduates will foster development, contributing for the sustainable use of resources by balancing nature conservation with human use of ecosystems and species. They will also have a robust preparation for a career in biological research.
