The MSc in Conservation Biology offers advanced training in this rapidly evolving field, which is considered an “emergency science.” The program covers a wide range of topics including ecology, Portuguese fauna and ecosystems, current methods for studying them, and management techniques for threatened species and ecosystems, as well as for human-managed ecosystems. In addition to gaining advanced scientific and technical knowledge, students will participate in intensive field courses to further enhance their learning experience. Graduates of the Conservation Biology program will be equipped to work in research institutes, environmental evaluation agencies, as well as in governmental and non-governmental organizations. Ultimately, they will contribute to the sustainable use of resources by balancing nature conservation with human use of ecosystems and species, while also being prepared for a career in biological research.
